The Chief Executive is personally responsible for the effective management of the Inspectorate in accordance with the Framework Document (currently under review) and in accordance with the normal civil service rules on propriety and securing value for money. The Strategic Management Board2. The Chief Executive has appointed a Strategic Management Board to direct the Inspectorate's work within the parameters laid down in the Framework Document. 3. The role of the Non-Executive Directors is to contribute to collective Board decisions on matters such as business planning, policy, strategy, performance, resources and Corporate Governance. They were appointed to provide an external perspective, to challenge and scrutinise and to provide knowledge and independent advice according to their individual areas of expertise based on their wider experience in other organisations.
