Guide to taking part in enforcement appeals

Appeal Costs Awards

At hearings or inquiries the Inspector will say that any application for costs should be made before the end of the proceedings. This can happen when one party claims it has been caused unnecessary expense in dealing with the proceedings, because of the other party’s unreasonable behaviour. In an enforcement notice appeal applications for costs can also be made if the written appeals procedure is used.

Unless you are the appellant, this is unlikely to apply to you because, if you choose to take part in an appeal, you do so at your own expense.
