Planning Inspectorate Good Practice Advice Note 16/2010: Submitting Planning Obligations
The Planning Inspectorate has published Good Practice Advice Note 16/2010: ‘Submitting Planning Obligations’ which gives guidance to those submitting planning obligations in connection both with planning appeals and with planning applications called in for determination by the Secretary of State. The Note should be read alongside Government policy on the use of planning obligations in Circular 05/2005: `Planning Obligations’ (July 2005) and guidance in `Planning Obligations: Practice Guidance’ (July 2006). The Good Practice Advice Note is intended to help planning appeals proceed more efficiently and to reduce delays by:
- setting out the Inspectorate’s procedural requirements for the submission of planning obligations;
- providing guidance on the format of planning obligations; and
- providing guidance on the evidence concerning planning obligations that Inspectors are likely to need.
The Good Practice Advice Note replaces our Checklist for Planning Obligations as the main source of Planning Inspectorate advice to parties on planning obligations.
