ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR ACT 2003, PART 8 – HIGH HEDGES

INTRODUCTION

Part 8 of the Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003 gives local authorities (this may be a district council, unitary authority or National Park Authority) powers to deal with complaints about high hedges and requires them to make decisions and, if necessary, issue remedial orders. Section 71 gives people who are unhappy with a local authority decision a right of appeal to the First Secretary of State.

The First Secretary of State has delegated his appeal functions to the Planning Inspectorate.
