There are 2 items that will be of interest to Stakeholders:

1. Outcome from Stakeholder discussions in 2007 re Statutory Consultees

Following Stakeholder discussions, as from 1 November 2007 arrangements were put in place for Government Offices to copy call-in letters to all statutory consultees whose representations had been at least partially involved in a call-in decision. The Planning Inspectorate would then automatically grant Rule 6 status to such statutory consultees and involve them in inquiry date fixing.  This procedure does not apply to applications under appeal.

The process of being involved in inquiry fixing will be that statutory consultees granted Rule 6 status would be copied in on communications that the Planning Inspectorate has with the applicant and the local planning authority, who remain the principal parties in arranging an inquiry date.  In this way, statutory consultees are aware of what is happening to ensure that they are ready to appear at an inquiry when a date is fixed.
