The Role of an Inspector

The following is an extract from the Summer 2005 Inspector recruitment exercise:-

Ideally, your background will be from any sector of planning or development, including architecture, civil engineering or environmental services. This will be coupled with a natural ability to be self-sufficient in both the workplace, on the road and when working from home. The demands of this role means you must also have the confidence and professional skills to make clear decisions, produce high-quality reports and take the helm where public inquiries and examinations are concerned whilst adhering closely to the three fundamental principles of openness, fairness and impartiality. In return, and within the context of the role, you'll receive the highest level of training and personnel development. We'll also give you the combined support of other Inspectors living near you. We're extremely keen to recruit salaried Inspectors from all over England and Wales. These could be full or part time. So, wherever you live we may well have a position that will make the most of your skills and experience.
