Consultation with Staff and Trade Union Representation

contents page 2 page 3

The civil service attaches importance to ensuring effective consultation and involvement of staff. It is, of course, a personal decision whether or not to join a trade union. But the civil service encourages staff to join an appropriate trade union and to play an active part within it, making sure that their views are represented. The Planning Inspectorate recognises three trade unions for collective bargaining purposes - the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS), the prospect, and the First Division Association (FDA).
