Vacancy - Director of Casework

The Planning Inspectorate is an executive agency sponsored by the Department for Communities
and Local Government and the National Assembly for Wales. The Inspectorate processes planning
and enforcement appeals and holds examinations into Development Plan Documents submitted by
Local Planning Authorities. We also deal with a wide variety of other planning related casework.
We are now looking for a key individual to join the strategic management board.
The Role
- Reporting to the Chief Executive, contribute to the
strategic evolution of the Planning Inspectorate with
operational responsibility for the integrated
management of casework to exacting quality and
performance standards. - Maintain key relationships with stakeholders in Central
Government, Local Authorities and the wider planning
community. - Work collaboratively to promote best practice and
innovation within a culture of continuous improvement.
The Candidate
- Significant leadership and casework management
experience, able to contribute effectively at strategic and
operational levels. - Proactive and intelligent with a strong delivery focus and
an appetite for considerable challenge. An appreciation
of planning issues is desirable, as is a track record in
managing professionals. - Proactive, highly motivated with first class
communications skills, able to engage with stakeholders
and bring about change.
