Annex C - Key Performance Targets 2000-2001

England

Timeliness

a) 80% of all planning appeals decided by written representations to be determined in 17 weeks

b) 80% of all planning appeals decided by hearings to be determined in 23 weeks

c) 80% of all planning appeals decided by inquiries to be determined in 33 weeks

d) To provide an Inspector for development plan inquiries in at least 90% of cases on the date requested by a local authority, provided that the objection period has ended and at least 6 months notice has been given

e) To deliver 90% of Inspectors' reports on development plan inquiries to local authorities according to timescales agreed under service agreements

Efficiency

Generate a 3% efficiency improvement in the use of running costs compared with 1999-2000

Quality

To satisfy the Advisory Panel on Standards, and the Secretary of State for Environment, Transport and the Regions and the First Secretary of the National Assembly for Wales, annually and following rigorous monitoring, that the quality of the Inspectorate's work is being maintained at a high standard, with 99% of its case work free from justified complaint

Information

To carry out a customer satisfaction survey on Inspectors' performance in handling Development Plan inquiries, and to publish the findings before the end of the financial year and act upon the results
