Business and Corporate Plan 2003-2004
Efficiency Plan 2003-2004
We will continue to strive to operate with the maximum efficiency,
effectiveness and value for money.
Once fully implemented, the Planning Casework Service is expected to
produce significant administrative efficiency savings. The extent to
which these savings can be realised will be dependent on the take up
of electronic services by customers, the stability and ease of administering
the system and the improvements in working practices which will be required
to make maximum benefit.
The take up of the Planning Portal services looks likely vastly to exceed
the assumptions set out in the Planning Portal Programme Business Case.
Efficiency gains will largely be realised by local planning authorities
and planning agents rather than the Inspectorate, although it is hoped
that the quality of appeal documentation will increase as a result of
better informed applicants, appellants and third parties.
Our e-Business Branch will continue to work closely with in-house project
teams to ensure that efficiency savings from our investment in the ebusiness
strategy are identified, tracked and realised.
We will also be looking in 2003-2004 to make efficiency savings from
a wider look at the Inspectorate’s structure and working practices.
The endto-end review can be expected to be a major stimulus to this process,
but we shall also be focusing on cutting back on our overheads and streamlining
our support services, whilst continuing to deliver the most effective
support to our field Inspectors and external customers.
