Land Compensation Appeals and Purchase Notices
All cases are still submitted to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions for determination.
Land Compensation Appeals are appeals under section 18 of the Land Compensation Act against certificates issued by the local planning authority or against their failure to issue certificates within the statutory period on application to them for Certificates of Appropriate Alternative Development. Table 26 shows the number of appeals received, withdrawn and decided in the year.

A Purchase Notice is a notice served by a landowner on a local planning authority requiring them to purchase land where planning permission has been refused or granted conditionally, or a revocation, modification or discontinuance order has been made, or where listed building consent has been refused or granted conditionally and the landowner claims that the land is incapable of reasonable beneficial use. Where an authority refuses to accept a notice they are required to refer it to the Secretary of State. Table 27 shows the number of cases received, withdrawn and decided in the year.
