Examination in Public (EIP)

The Secretary of State has decided that an Examination in Public (EiP) should be held to discuss and test the soundness of the proposed policy for additional pitch requirements for gypsies and travellers in the South West. The G&T EiP is in addition to the draft SWRSS for which an EiP was held this summer and the pannel report is due at the end of 2007. The EiP will provide the opportunity to have a structured discussion on issues arising from the proposed policy.
The EiP took place between 4 and 6 March 2008, and was be carried out by an independent Panel, appointed by the Secretary of State, of Mr Chris Offord BA MRTPI (Panel Chair) and Mr Peter Burley, MA BPHIL DIPTP MLI MRTPI (Panel Inspector). The Panel Secretary was Barbara Bay.
