Inspector

Andrew Phillipson, BSC CENG FICE MIHT

Andrew qualified as a civil engineer and worked as a consultant on a wide variety of infrastructure projects before joining the Planning Inspectorate in 1996. His appointments with the Inspectorate have included Deputy Inspector for the Dibden Terminal (Southampton Docks) Inquiry and Inspector for inquiries into major housing schemes at Bedford and Crawley and an opencast mining scheme in Derbyshire. More recently he has conducted two separate inquires into proposed Strategic Rail Freight Interchanges to serve London.

Deputy Inspector

Philip Asquith MA MA MRTPI

Philip is a Chartered Town Planner, joining the Planning Inspectorate in 1996 after working in local government and private practice. As an inspector he has carried out a wide range of casework, including appointment as Deputy Inspector for the Bathside Bay (Harwich) container terminal Inquiry. He has also assisted at a large UDP Inquiry and has held inquiries into major housing and Compulsory Purchase Order schemes.

Assistant Inspectors

Andrew Roberts, CB, CBE, AFC FRAeS

Andrew spent 38 years in the Royal Air Force, retiring in 1994 as an Air Vice-Marshal. Following that he joined the Planning Inspectorate where he has been involved in a wide range of cases, covering transport (including the inquiry into the M6 Toll Road), harbours and public rights of way.

Stuart Reid, D ARCH (HONS) RIBA

Stuart is a Chartered Architect, and has worked for Central Government, a Local Authority, and in private practice. The latter have ranged from a large multi-disciplinary practice to medium-sized and small architects practices. He was the principal of his own practice which specialised in listed buildings before joining The Planning Inspectorate in 1995. He works on varied casework including planning, listed buildings, enforcement and listed building enforcement cases. He worked alongside other Inspectors on projects such as the Birmingham Midland Metro and a Local Plan. He also trains Inspectors in specialist casework.
